For both being an interviewer and for when being interviewed by the media.

  • Confidence

How to use our body and mind to create presence on screen.

  • Remembering lines

We explore what works best for you with tips on how to learn lines on the spot.

WEEK 2

  • Action – Where do I look and what do I do with my hands?

Practice presenting to camera starting with learning a couple of lines by memory and delivering in a few different ways under direction building up to adding in movement and activity.

  • Voice Over – How to read scripts but not sound like you are reading!

We spend some time learning how to read voice overs, both commercial and lifestyle, mark up a script and go through some vocal exercises in readiness for the voice over session in the studio.

WEEK 3

  • On location – Wundenberg’s Recording Studio

You get to practice under the guidance of a super experienced sound engineer, John Bridges ex Channel 9 with recording a voice over for a lifestyle show and a TV commercial script.

WEEK 4

  • Your Presenting Persona

Confidence has to be activated with some fun improvisations and exercises often used in auditions.
Practice how to talk about yourself and continue the on-camera work + get some takeaway info on public speaking and MC skills.

WEEK 5

  • Q & A with Industry Professionals

Lauren Hillman General Manager of Channel 44 and an experienced ABC producer, documentary producer and Iview show creator. Lauren talks about current opportunities, how to “get your foot in the door”, she will also discuss expectations of a producer, what makes a good story and how you can promote your business or yourself in the media.
The “media” is a who you know business so having the opportunity to meet those that are actively working and being able to pick their brains for advice in an informal Q&A session is invaluable.

WEEK 6

  • Using Autocue

As the lines appear in front of the camera with an autocue or Pad Prompter it takes the pressure off having to remember lines and lets you concentrate on bringing more personality to your performance. But there is a skill in using it as a “prompt” and not just reading from it, get it right and no-one will ever know!

WEEK 7

  • Practice makes perfect

Workshop and rehearsal of your final piece to camera – you can choose what you would like to present. It could be a short sizzle reel piece for you to use to get work in the industry or a short video to promote your business.
